Sustainability

We focus on improving the energy efficiency of our manufacturing processes and equipment, to reduce energy consumption during machine operation. We aim to support our customers in optimizing resource use and progressing toward their own sustainability objectives

Our ambition

At UNITED MACHINING, we are committed to precision and performance. Our ambition is to develop intelligent machining solutions while continuously improving the environmental performance of our products and operations. We aim to strengthen our contribution to sustainability and innovation by delivering measurable value to our customers.

Our focus is on environmental and social topics, with three main focus areas:

  • Products and services: we incorporate eco-design approaches and consider lifecycle aspects in the conception of our machines. These principles are intended to improve energy efficiency during operation and contribute to reducing the environmental impacts compared to the previous versions based on internal assessment criteria.
  • Climate and resources: we set targets for GHG emissions reduction and on relevant environmental aspects. These targets are supported by action plans implemented though our environmental management system, conform to ISO 14001 requirements.
  • People and well-being: we set targets to reduce the accident rate and promote a culture of safety, with the aim of maintaining a safe working environment.

Initiatives

  • “Be Aware – Be Safe” is the key message of the ongoing safety campaign, building on the “Zero Risk” programme launched in 2018.
  • This campaign aims to increase awareness of workplace risks and their potential consequences, and to encourage employees to take an active role in maintaining a safe working environment. The objective of this programme is to contribute to a reduction in workplace accidents.

  • Quality, Environment, Health & Safety (QEHS) management refers to the integration of policies and processes related to quality, environmental management, and occupational health and safety. Our management systems are aligned with internationally recognised ISO standards, including ISO 9001 (Quality Management), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety), and ISO 50001 (Energy Management, which is implemented at our Losone plant only).
  • These certifications indicate that our management systems are designed in accordance with the requirements of the respective standards and support the continuous improvement of our processes in these areas. They form part of our approach to managing quality, environmental, health and safety aspects within our operations.
